Lars Walkling was born to create. His family home was filled with paint and finesse, and it was clear from a young age that Lars was destined for something creative and meaningful.

As a child Lars was fascinated with creativity. He found himself regularly lost in a world of pencils, sketching everything from animals to cities. And as Lars grew, his talent remained which saw him continue his artistic studies into graphic design.

Soon after university Lars established a successful career in design by cofounding a production company. It was during this time he began to sketch and design tattoos, and it wasn’t long before he was hooked. Lars had finally found an artistic outlet that inspired him in a way like never before; he discovered his true life calling and became a full-time tattoo artist, starting professionally in 1997.

As his tattooing progressed, he travelled to refine and improve his skills exposing himself to other artists. His travels took him to studios located in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Austria, the United States, and perhaps, the most significant country in regards to his work – Japan.  It was during a visit to Japan in 2008 that transformed his perspective of Horimono, traditional Japanese tattooing, which continues to heavily influence his work today. Immersing himself in Japanese traditional tattooing, he became more and more captivated by its design depth and complexity.

Most significantly it was during 2017 that Lars began his journey with sensei Horikoi. After extensive work, growth and determination Lars was given a prestigious opportunity, he was formally invited to join the Horikoi family, where his sensei gave him the name of Horiyou 彫陽. Being part of the Horikoi tattoo family Lars was educated and offered a deeper understanding of traditional tattooing; Lars became fascinated with historical family secrets and ancient traditions, subtle design significances and meanings. Not only was Lars > Horiyou 彫陽 able to advance his knowledge of the designs but also learning the craft of tebori on a much deeper level. This includes making his needles, sashibo (tebori tool) and sumi (ink) himself to ensure the tradition is kept alive.

Today Lars offers his skill tattooing from a studio in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He meets with regular and new clients from all over the world and welcomes you to visit him.

Being trusted with the skin of a person is a huge responsibility and honor. Lars promises his tattooing knowledge, experience and talent will give his clients an extraordinary, exclusive tattoo and experience with an ancient, rare skill that promotes meaning and depth. He thanks you in advance for your trust.
